Where You Were Moments

Sports Moments Create a Remember-Forever Connection Between Friends

You know the moments. The ones where you can clearly remember the finest details of your surroundings. You can remember exactly where you were. You clearly remember the people you were with. And as you reflect on these moments your mind replays them in slow motion.

These moments are the ones that get written about. They are moments of incredible feats or of incredible heart break. There are certainly moments of historical disaster in our collective memories, but there also those of historical achievements. And as sports fans, these moments are likely sports team specific or even the reflection of national pride. As sports fans, these moments stand apart as the ones we most commonly relate our commitment as a fan too.

Most Americans who were around for the 1980 Miracle On Ice remember where they were when Al Michaels asked the country, and answered the question for us, “Do you believe in miracles? Yes!” Any fan lucky enough to have their team win a championship typically remembers exactly where they were, and who they enjoyed the moment with, when the final seconds ticked off the clock or the final out was made.

These moments not only infinitely connect us with our teams, but they also create a unique connection with the people we share them with. Kansas City Royals fans, who went years—and for many a LIFETIME between championships, created lifelong memories for their loyal fans last year that will likely never be forgotten. Those fans will always remember the people they celebrated the championship with, and the shared elation they had with one another as the culmination of dedicated fandom was rewarded by their team.

As a Colorado-based company, we here at isplack are lucky enough to have had two all-time great quarterbacks deliver championships to our community in what was the last game of each player’s career.  We remember clearly where we were when John Elway delivered back-to-back championships in the late 90’s and Pat Bowlen declared ‘This one’s for John.” And while it was only a few months ago, we know the memory will always stick in our minds of Peyton Manning standing on the stage next to John as the leader proclaimed “This one’s for Pat.”

Here in the middle of March, as the madness marinates and anticipation for the tip-off the greatest tournament of the year grows, another group of fans will soon have their own remember-forever moments. Let us say in advance CONGRATULATIONS to you fans!  If you’re lucky enough to be on the happy end of the inevitable buzzer beaters, do your best to live in the moment, and take it all in.  Those unforgettable moments don’t come often and are truly special.  (From experience, we recommend you spend these moments with the people who help you define your team commitment.)

The moments like these are what drive us to create a product in isplack that connects teammates with one another, and allows fans to bond with their team, as well as fellow fans, through color. The moments from our childhood, college years and beyond, are what we derive our passion from to provide just one of these life memories for sports lovers everywhere we touch on a daily basis.

Should you and your team go all the way in the madness this March, while you’re wearing your colors at the game or in front of a TV, we’d be honored to be a part of those memorable moments.  Just make sure you don’t let the triumph be simply another moment in time.  They’re too special.  Have fun, celebrate responsibly, and carve something permanent in your memories.
